The Caravan Club is set to host several parties in celebration of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games providing the perfect opportunity for a summer caravan getaway
From 23 July – 3 August this year, Glasgow will play host to the 20th Commonwealth Games. This will be the third time the Games have returned to Scotland – they have previously been held in Edinburgh in 1970 and 1986. The event is thought to be one of the largest multi-sport events in the world, coming third after the Olympics and the Asian games, and is sure to be a great time. A total of 71 Commonwealth nations will be participating in the Games, in a celebration of sports featuring world class athletes.
This is the perfect chance to embrace the spirit and creativity of the Games and enjoy the summer. The parties will be taking place on the weekend of the 25 – 27 July 2014 at the following sites:
Ayr Craigie Gardens Caravan Club Site

Within walking distance of the seaside town of Ayr, this site will be hosting a barbeque and providing fun and games, including a tombola and quiz as well as the summer traditional dish of strawberries and cream.
The site is also only a short walk from Ayr train station , making access to Glasgow and the games as easy as pie.
Balbirnie Park Caravan Club Site

This site is perfect for the caravanner looking to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. Set within 400 acres of parkland, Balbirnie Park combines the tranquillity of nature with the historic ambience of its local setting.
Activities at this site include: popular quizzes, face painting, raffles and food and drinks.
Melrose Gibson Park Caravan Club Site

For those up for the challenge, Melrose Gibson Park Caravan Club Site could be the stop for you. It leads to 1,500 miles of footpaths and has access to excellent cycle routes.
This site will be providing refreshments and a raffle on this particular weekend.
Strathclyde Country Park Caravan Club Site

Nature enthusiasts will love this site thanks to its close proximity to Strathclyde Country Park boasting 1,000 acres of mature woodland, wetland, wildlife refuges and neat open parkland. The park offers unique bird and nature watching, miles of walking and cycle routes, plus water sports and golf.
In celebration of the Games, the site will be offering drinks and nibbles as well as a whole deer on a spit roast.
On 30 June, TV personality Carole Smillie brought the Queen’s baton for the games down to Strathclyde Lochside for the final leg of its journey.
Edinburgh Caravan Club Site

This site is perfect if you wish to do a bit of sightseeing on your trip, located within easy reach of some of the city’s most notable landmarks.
