In news that is sure to cause a shock throughout the tourer community, the owners of a Scottish caravan park have reported that £5,000-worth of battery packs have been stolen from the site.
The crime is the latest in a string of offences witnessed across the rural Scottish region.
In the majority of cases, business premises have been targeted for scrap metal, with roofing and some storage facilities hit during the Scotland-based crime spree.
A storage compound at a local garden centre was among those to suffer, while the Eastmill Caravan Park near Brechin reported the theft of £5,000 worth of batteries.
Speaking to The Courier, a police spokeswoman urged caravan owners and local residents alike to stay vigilant of any would-be metal thieves.
“Clearly, there is a black market for all kinds of metal and the police engage with those in the scrap metal business to try and seek their assistance in tackling this issue,” she told the news provider.
Marking your items or protecting your caravan using a Thatcham alarm system could prove potential solutions.
