A blaze described as a “large ball of fire” has devastated a car and a caravan on a quiet residential street in Telford.
The fire broke out on Furnace Lane at 1:15am on Sunday (11 January) and it took firefighters from Telford and Wellington an hour to bring it under control, The Shropshire Star reports.
Tammy Rutherford, who lives at nearby West Avenue, explained to the news provider that when she and her family were awoken by a large bang all she could see out of her window was a large ball of fire.
“There was one loud explosion after another and the flames were spreading so far they were almost hitting the cars on the other side of the road. It was all very tense,” Ms Rutherford added.
An investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire and the fire service is still not clear on whether it was criminal activity or an accident.
