Introduced at the launch of the Bailey Pegasus Series II, the Ancona is a new layout from Bailey Caravans.
The twin axle, triple bunk Pegasus 646 in the original line-up has been discontinued to make way for the Ancona. This family friendly model features six berths and is the first time Bailey has used the triple bunk configuration on a single axle chassis.

The firm has taken great steps to create a stronger brand differentiation between its flagship Bailey Unicorn range and the mid-level Pegasus. Cheaper and lighter than its six-berth predecessor in the original line-up, the Pegasus Ancona is now around £1,000 less expensive than its previous equivalent. There’s no TV or tracking device this time around, but there are plenty of revisions to the interior.
Family living
The fixed triple bunks are located towards the rear opposite a spacious corner bathroom with a large shower and deep Belfast-style sink which is great for family living.
The kitchen is well equipped with a combination oven and grill and a handy microwave has been positioned at chest level. There’s good lighting provided by LED downlighters set into the contrasting overhead lockers and a large 115 litre fridge can be expanded up to 122 litres by removing the detachable freezer compartment. A mid dinette opposite the kitchen creates more space at mealtimes.
Bailey has listened to customer feedback from the best-selling Unicorn range launched at the end of last year, and has transferred some of its ‘charm and DNA’ to the Pegasus II.
Gone is the somewhat clinical interior design scheme from the original, replaced by ‘Walnut’ cabinetry and warmer colours have been used in the upholstery fabrics which include co-ordinating curtains, bolster and scatter cushions. Optional ‘Gershwin’ soft furnishings are available as a cost option.
In the main living area, new curved overhead locker doors have flush 12 volt lights fitted in each corner and strip lighting mounted underneath, while Heki rooflights let in plenty of natural daylight. Separate pleated sunblinds and flyscreens can be drawn across the windows to protect the inhabitants privacy day or night.
Year round touring
The body shell is built using Bailey’s groundbreaking Alu-Tech construction system, making it suitable for year round touring, and the cabin can be warmed via the Truma blown air heating system in colder months.
Customers get new Pegasus graphics to demarcate this second generation model from the Peg I and the front end also sports added bumper protection in the form of corner mouldings. The windows have also been redesigned using poly classic materials in new curved parabolic shapes, and the external gas locker has been changed from black to white.
