WEATHER BOMB: Is your caravan or motorhome safe?

It's time to think about your caravan or motorhome's safety

Weather Bomb continues to hit UK, with wind, rain, hail, snow and now fire. Are you prepared for the storms?

By now it is virtually impossible to ignore the weather warning signs, as police and fire services, as well as the Met office and yours truly continue to issue weather warnings surrounding what has aptly been labelled the ‘Weather Bomb’.

With ferocious gales, storms and a terrifying cocktail of ice and hail prompting a yellow weather warning level across northern parts of Britain, it was only a matter of time before Mother Nature extended her presence. And now, it’s not just wind, rain, hail and snow that some are being forced to deal with, but fire, with fire-fighters having the formidable task of battling a blazing fire as it tore through a day care centre in Manchester late last night.

The fire, which took place around 9pm, quickly engulfed Minehead Resource Centre and, despite the best efforts of 30 fire fighters, the building was largely destroyed.. Thankfully no one was inside as the roof collapsed along with several walls. The fire was so destructive owing to gale force winds making it virtually impossible for the fire brigade to stop the fire engulfing everything in sight.

Meanwhile, 27,000 homes have been left without power for a second time in two days in the Scottish Highlands due to lightning strikes, as yellow “be prepared” alerts are in place for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and most parts of England.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, and Scottish road police have taken a more light-hearted approach to the current situation, incorporating a bit of lyrical genius into some of their latest weather warnings via Twitter:

Is your caravan or motorhome protected? CaravanTimes urges everyone to check their fire safety plan and to avoid leaving your caravan and motorhomes in a vulnerable place for days to come.
