Details of the alarming losses made at the council-run Aberfeldy Caravan Park in the idyllic surroundings of Highland Perthshire have caused a major stir this week.

The details of the financial mismanagement at the heart of the tourer facility were showcased in a meeting of the Perth and Kinross Council’s environment committee on Wednesday.

According to the figures presented to those councillors in attendance, the park made an astonishing loss of £173,435 over the space of just five years.

This figure contrasts the previous amount reported, with some suggesting the venue had lost just £21,784 over that same period.

As the Perthshire Advertiser reports, councillor Callum Gillies was among those to express surprise and dismay at the new numbers.

“I find these figures quite shocking when you look at them,” he told the committee, before asking why it had not been flagged up before.

The council is now set to advertise the caravan park as part of a possible lease deal for external businesses.
