Caravan and motorhome owners alike have been warned of the dangers of carbon monoxide in recent years.

Now a Carbon Monoxide (CO) Helpline has been launched, offering free advice about the dangers of the deadly gas.

Managed by Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES), the new service offers individuals a freephone helpline number which will operate 24/7.

Roderick Pettigrew, chief executive of B&ES told pbo.co.uk: “Whilst many victims are exposed to CO in homes they can also be at risk from exposure in holiday accommodation, caravans, motor homes, tents and boats as these often use fuel burning appliances in what may be a poorly ventilated area.”

The new service aims to make people aware of all the dangers of CO poisoning.

Roderick added: “When, where and how it can occur and to provide essential safety advice including what to do if someone has been affected.”

Carbon Monoxide is often referred to as the ‘Silent Killer’ because it is colourless, odourless and tasteless.
