Nationwide appeal launched after mystery man found dead at caravan park

Could you help West Mercia police identify the mystery man?

In a plot worthy of a murder mystery, a nationwide appeal has been launched by West Mercia police after a dead body was found in a river next to a caravan park. How he died or who he was remains unknown.
Weir Meadow Caravan Park in Evesham sits on the banks of the River Avon and during last month’s severe flooding a corpse was fished out of the water on Wednesday 19 February.
Identifying the man in his late forties has proved difficult, with no wallet or ID cards and no local missing person reports that matched his description.
And now, with local enquiries resulting in no known relatives, the investigation has been thrown open to the wider public.
Police have issued pictures of the man’s clothes, boots, studded belt and glasses in the hope that someone may recognise them.
Detective Sergeant Chris Percival, who is leading the search, said: “Usually in such tragic cases, we can quickly identify the person and inform their next of kin, so it is unfortunate that with this man we have so little to go on.
“It is more likely this man is from Worcestershire or Warwickshire, so I would like to appeal to anyone who thinks they recognise the description and the clothes he was wearing, to contact West Mercia Police straightway.”
Anyone with any information on this case is encouraged to dial 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote the reference number: 151s 19/02/14
