Family safety concern after South Yorkshire caravan arson

Caravan fires can easily spread to neighbouring properties

by Tom Walsh

Arsonists have targeted a caravan park in the town Maltby, just a few feet away from a family home.

Tracey Byrne was looking after the mobile home for a friend on Churchill Avenue but was shocked to see the vehicle go up in flames in the early hours of Sunday morning (2 March), the Star reports.

Tracey and the rest of her family were alerted to the blaze by a neighbour who knocked on their door at 1:30am.

Firefighters were called to the scene to tackle the fire, which had ripped through the caravan.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and Tracey has condemned the actions of the perpetrators who put her and her family’s lives at risk.

She told the news provider: “If it was just meant as a bit of a prank, the person who did this needs to realise the seriousness of their actions and what could have happened to my family.”
