Electrical slide-out sections have proven popular in the world of caravans, and now Volkswagen is taking this technology into motorhomes as well.

The VW T5 Doubleback is an innovative campervan, which at the touch of a button can extend to 26ft-long and extend its roof.

And now, Danbury motorcaravans has been appointed by VW as the Doubleback’s sole agent.

The Bristol-based company builds the vehicles in the Danbury’s Yate factory and is renowned for its history in UK camper productions.

With a debut last year, the Doubleback got everybody talking, mostly due to its an electrically-powered rear slide-out which can double the size of the van. It also contains a built-in cooker, fridge and a convertible bed.

The camper looks like any ordinary vehicle but with the added flexibility it allows an extended living space for the comfort of its owners.

The manufacturer also revealed that there is set to be a five-seater version of the van in the works, and there are also conversion services available for current Transporter owners to turn their camper into a Doubleback.
