More than 30 silver bullet luxury caravans are heading to Cirencester this weekend in preparation for the Airstream Rally.

The event is taking place at the Caravan Club site in the town and the vehicles will undoubtedly stand out thanks to their distinctive look.

For those not familiar, Airstreams are manufactured in the US and are famous for their rounded, aluminium design.

The shape dates back to around the 1930s and is based on sketches from creator Hawley Bowlus, who was also the chief designer of Charles Lindbergh’s aircraft the Spirit of St Louis.

ThisisGloucestershire.co.uk reports that the vehicles will arrive around midday on Friday (22 March). Visitors are then invited to tour around the beautiful Cotswolds on the Saturday before taking part in an organised walk and barbecue on the Sunday.

The Caravan Club’s Cirencester site is set in Grade-1 listed parkland and forms part of the Bathurst Estate.

It is a favourite among walkers thanks to its natural landscapes and picnic facilities.
