VIDEO: Testing the new WSL caravan wheel safety bolt

Last week we revealed how Wheel Solutions is aiming to solve the wheel detachment issue that had become an increasing worry for caravanners with a new type of wheel bolt.
Developing the new bolt was not a simple task and in this video we detail the extensive tests the bolt had to go through before reaching the market.
We meet Steve Budding from WSL who begins by explaining what separates the bolt from traditional wheel bolts which haven’t been modified since the 1960s.
He explains how they went through four stages of testing to make sure the bolt could stand up to the tough road conditions caravans have to face.
The final stage of testing was perhaps the most important – attaching the bolt to a tourer and towing it across the Millbrook test track which saw the caravan subjected to some of the most challenging road conditions possible.
To the delight of the WSL team it came through the tests with flying colours, and Steve goes on to explain what they learnt from the tests they performed.
