VIDEO: Swift goes timberless with new Smart Construction method

All 2014 Swift, Sterling and Sprite caravans will come with Smart Construction

by Chris Jefferies
The biggest story of the year in the world of caravans has come from East Yorkshire, where Swift Group announced an all-new construction method earlier this month.
Smart Construction uses PURe (a type of polyurethane) to replace all the timber in the framework of the caravan.
This radical change is being rolled out across all Swift, Sterling and Sprite caravans for the 2014 season and promises to make them stronger and more resilient to water ingress than ever before.

In this video special, CaravanTimes travels to the company’s Cottingham headquarters to meet the team behind this new system.
Nick Page, Commercial Director at Swift Group, explains what each letter in Smart stands for, before Design Director Chris Millburn explains the testing process that informed the decision to get rid of the wood.
We also get a sneak peek inside the very first caravans to be built using Smart Construction.
