With the strong winds of a British seaside resort, Weymouth is a great location for windsurfing, as we found out while visiting the town during the annual Speed Week.
The event, now in its 40th year, sees competitors using anything that can to go faster than the speed of wind to complete a track on the choppy water and well over a 100 competitors take part.
We caught up with Neil Greentree whose Bailey Pegasus Ancona we saw in a previous video.
He gives an explanation of the event, before donning his wetsuit and taking his windsurfer out on the freezing water.
A very cold Neil then catches up with us as we retire to the comfort of his Bailey Pegasus to warm up.
He discusses the benefits of a caravan praising the Bailey Pegasus’ Alu-Tech construction, which keeps the heat out in summer and the warmth in during winter – something that proved valuable after his morning of falling into the water.
There is also an insight into how they measure speed at the event with Nick Povey, chairman of speed week, showing the complex technology that allows them to measure the speed of the competitors.
