CaravanTimes puts Bailey’s all-weather Approach Advance through its paces on the slopes in our latest video
It’s pretty true to say that caravanning and motorhoming is no longer reserved for just the spring and summer months, partly thanks to the sheer amount of technology available which enables us to remain warm, toasty and in total control of our vehicles in even the most adverse weather conditions.
Bailey knows this, and have designed their vehicles with the aim of producing caravans and motorhomes that are able to be used all year round, come sun, rain, sleet or snow. That said, it’s all very well designing a home on wheels to withstand the elements, but how does it perform when faced with a below zero temperatures and an abundance of snow thrown in for good measure? We thought we’d find out for ourselves.
Never one to shirk away from a challenge, CaravanTimes set off from Dover and crossed over to Calais on the ferry, taking Bailey’s award-winning Approach Advance on a journey through France to Austria in order to put the company’s most technologically-advanced motorhome ever to the test and to see how it would cope in extreme conditions. Just how would the Approach Advance’s high performance Alu-Tech bodyshell with a GRP outer skin manage to protect us against the elements? Furthermore, how would the Advance’s Peugeot Boxer Euro 5 cab, powered by a 2.2 Hdi 130 bhp engine complete with a 6-speed manual gearbox, cope on the winding roads of the Alps? And would it enable us to reach our final destination and meet up with competitive snowboarder and professional blogger, Simon Cudlip and Faye Young, who are currently staying in Austria, putting good use to Bailey’s all-new Pegasus as part of Bailey’s Snow Season?
