Weather warnings in place for weekend as potential 80mph winds set to cause misery for UK
Batten down your hatches folks. Weather warnings have been put in place for this weekend as winds reaching up to speeds of 80mph are set to devastate parts of the UK.
Forecasters predict a jet stream, triggered by plunging temperatures in the US, will hit parts of Northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland with full force on Friday (9 January), with yellow weather warnings looking set to be in place across the rest of the UK the following day.
It is thought that the jet stream will produce wind speeds of up to 250mph at flying level and conditions could rival storm conditions experienced in southern parts of the UK in October 2013, when tens of thousands of homes were left without power or electricity and trees were uplifted.
Transport and services are expected to be affected as a result.
CaravanTimes urges all of our readers to take it easy this weekend and to check weather warnings in advance before setting off should you decide to travel.
