CRiS warns of the adverse effects of Caravan theft

by Laura Hastings

Sean Bailey of The Central Registration and Identification Scheme (CRiS) appeared on the BBC programme to discuss caravan theft

Protecting your caravan against theft, and knowing what to do in the event that it is stolen, are key issues for every caravanner out there.

Sean Bailey, operations manager at CriS appeared on BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow this week to speak with presenter Sian Lloyd about how consumers can best protect their caravans from being stolen and how CRiS helps in their recovery.

Also featured in the segment was a couple who’ve had their touring caravan stolen from private land and launched an appeal for its return. Sian then spoke with the investigating officer and to Sean. He offered some very good advice to consumers who have had a caravan stolen, or are looking to buy a second-hand caravan.

Sean noted that when buying a used caravan you should always carry out a CriS check first. Once you have bought a caravan make certain to register it with CriS into your name. For the best deterrence, and to aid recovery, a CRiS plus kit is a must have.
