Top Gear Series 20 to feature New Forest caravan holiday

Wanted for crimes against caravans

by Chris Jefferies
Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are hardly your typical caravanners.
In fact, in the course of their careers they have destroyed dozens of poor, innocent tourers in ever more imaginative ways.
From caravan conkers to the caravan train that caught fire, it’s fair to say that their adventures in the world of caravanning have been fairly reckless.
And with the latest series of Top Gear due to hit our screens later this month (30 June), it seems that the terrible trio have turned their attention to caravans once more.
In a season preview on the Top Gear website, the team explain that they will be towing a caravan to the New Forest to test out the new trend for urban crossovers.
Much to our relief, they explain that this time nothing will catch fire. Instead, they appear to be taking an overly aggressive approach to towing.
A sneak preview photo shows a Mazda towcar with all four wheels off the ground, while the poor caravan has flipped on its side and is dragging along the ground behind it.
But if you find their laddish on-screen shenanigans distasteful, you might be interested to know that the diminutive Hammond is actually a closet campervan lover.
Series 20 of Top Gear is due to begin on BBC Two on Sunday 30 June, with weekly episodes due to follow throughout the summer.
