All the details on the new entry-level Approach Advance range from Bailey for 2015

Bailey of Bristol has unveiled a whole new set of details on its new entry-level motorhome range for 2015, the Bailey Approach Advance, and it’s looking pretty nice.

With an emphasis on low cost, low profile and light weight, the new Bailey Approach Advance has been designed with the first-time motorhome buyer in mind.

Unique for the entry-level motorhome market, all four models in the Approach Advance range have been built on the ultra-low profile, lightweight AL-KO AMC chassis for improved driving performance and increased user payloads. Not only does this decrease the weight and height of Bailey’s new offering, but also ensures an easier drive owing to better handling on the road.

All models across the Advance range are built using Bailey’s patented Alu-Tech bodyshell, including a GRP outer skin said to provide for extra durability, as well as thermal insulation, making this a motorhome for all seasons.

Meanwhile, the Peugeot boxer Euro 5 cab, powered by a 2.2 Hdi 130 bhp engine complete with a six-speed manual gearbox, comes in Bianco white with colour-coded bumpers, Michelin premium-branded tyres with in-built tyre pressure monitors, electric windows and electric heated wing mirrors featuring direction indicators. Other notable features include daytime running lights, variable power steering, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), as well as front and rear brake pad monitoring system.

Elsewhere, the Advance 635 and 640 have the added bonus of an exterior access storage locker, whilst all models come with a Vision Plus satellite connection provision, fixing points for a rear mounted cycle rack as well as fixing points for exterior ladder and roof rack.

Stepping inside the cab, fully adjustable upholstered driver and passenger seats with twin armrests should provide enough comfort on the road and a driver’s airbag with option of passenger airbag provides plenty of protection too.

Moving through the Approach Advance, Bailey’s ‘Mendip Ash’ furtniture finish brings a light and contemproary feel to the interior, with dual finish Italian design overhead locker doors ensuring a touch of class whilst providing plenty of storage space. Polished chrome finishes to fixtures and fittings complement standard ‘Pimlico’ soft furnishings with coordinating curtains and two scatter cushions.

Slide out bed boxes for easy bed preparation come as standard on the 635 and 640 models and a roller slat mechanism for easy bed make up features on the 615 and 665. Sprung beech bed box tops provide additional comfort. Extra storage space comes by way of deep-fill bed boxes, enabling extra storage capacity to ensure any clutter can be hidden away. An additional bonus on the 665 is the automatically operated ceiling-mounted drop down double bed with sprung base – allowing for more room when onboard.

Through to the kitchen area now. Equipment consists of a Dometic 203 litre refrigerator with annual ignition and detachable full-width freezer compartment, the capactity of which increases to 110 litres when removed on the 635, 640 and 665 models. The Advance 615 contains an 80 litre fridge with the capacity increasing to 85 litres when the detachable freezer is removed from this one.

A Thetford Duplex anti-rattle combination oven and grill, as well as a Thetford three-burner gas hob incorporating flush fitting glass hinged lid and conveniently located controls should allow you to cook up some culinary delights, whilst a stainless steel circular kitchen sink with swan-neck mixer tap will alow for whoever’s turn it is to do the washing up to do it with ease. There is also a provision for a microwave oven should this be required.

Inside the bathroom, a Thetford C-260 cassette toilet with integrated header tank, inboard shower unit with ceramic ball mixer tap and Ecocamel shower head provide all the amenities required for a great break. A fully lined separate shower cubicle with fold partition door (635 and 640 models only) and fully lined shower wet room on the 615 and 665 models, along with hand basin with ceramic ball mixer tap will keep things nice and fresh.

As for the water and heating systems, a Whale floor mounted 4kw space heater and blown air heating system, Whale rapid heat water heater and Whale premium freshwater pump will provide plenty of water for those journeys away, and the 90 litre onboard freshwater tank and 90 litre external waste tank with level sensor provide plenty of assurance.

The electrical system on the Approach Advance is pretty nifty too. A premium 80 ampere/hour Banner leisure battery should allow for as much travel and entertainment as required, whilst 12v ambient and task lighting fittings and additional low level night lights will set the scene. A digital electrical control panel with push button operation for all motorhome services comes as standard.

Safety hasn’t been scrimped upon either. Features include AL-KO outriggers fitted to the AMC chassis for enhanced floor strength across the board, and three-point seatbelts on all designated travel seats on the 615 and 665 models. The 615 and 665 also features steel framed base tops with Velcro base cushion fastenings amongst other handy saftey features. Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide monitors come as standard.
