The Caravan Club’s annual testing for Towcar of the Year has been completed, using Bailey caravans to determine towcar of the year for 2015. The question remains, however, will current champs, Skoda, retain the crown

Yes folks, it’s that time of the year once again. No, not unofficially the end of summer as the grey clouds gather in furious momentum throughout the UK, but rather The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2015.

Although the results of The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2015 remain a closely guarded secret until they are announced at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday 24 September, CaravanTimes has learned that testing has been completed at The Millbrook Proving Ground – one of the most demanding environments in the world to test the towability of your vehicle when towing a caravan.

Bailey of Bristol has risen to the challenge once again – this being their 17th year – and assisted The Caravan Club by providing a selection of ten caravans, including Bailey Pursuits, Pegasus GT65s and Unicorns, to help determine a winner for 2015.

The three day test consisted of each caravan being loaded with ballast to match each towcar’s 85 per cent weight, or its maximum towing limit, if lower, and part of the testing saw any AL-KO stability aids disabled to ensure each car’s reactions to the demanding tests could be fully experienced.

The question remains, however, as to whether 2014’s winner, Skoda, will rise to the challenge once again to scoop the much-coveted award for the fourth occasion, or whether Volkswagen can steal Skoda’s crown, having won the year before with the VW Jetta. With 39 cars to choose from, the judges have certainly had their work cut out, that’s for sure.

The results will be up on our site as soon as we receive them, so make sure you check back with us on 24 September to find which car has won.
