Caravanners visiting the Ambleside area will be able to dress according to the elements after Skelwith Ford park invested in a private weather station.
Over 40 readings will be available online for visitors to make use of, generated by scientific meteorological equipment which is based on its roof.
The area is often affected by its own micro climate which means that weather conditions could be different to the rest of the county.
It means that caravanners will now be able to get a more detailed impression of local weather conditions and will not be put off by a general forecast of rain for the Ambleside region.
“Areas such as Cumbria have many different micro-climates – but if it’s likely to be wet in just one of these, the weather map will sometimes show rain covering the entire county,” explained park director Henry Wild.
Among the details which will be available via the Live Weather Feed section of www.SkelwithFold.co.uk are temperature, wind speed, rainfall, height of the cloud base, UV radiation and humidity.
