Mercedes Viano Marco Polo camper

The new Mercedes Marco Polo will certainly turn heads

by Hayley McCrystal

Whilst we have said goodbye to the iconic VW campervan, Mercedes has stepped up to the plate with their new Viano Marco Polo camper

With the introduction of the Marco Polo camper to the Mercedes family comes a reinvention of what a camper van should be. Previously, as was the case with the Volkswagen ‘hippy bus’, camper vans were fun and, above all, fit for purpose – to provide a living space. The Marco Polo has this and more. It offers the comfort of a car and versatility of a motorhome along with the stylish aesthetics that Mercedes is renowned for.

The interior offers a sleek, sophisticated look and integrates a nautical feel with its wooden yacht style flooring available in light or dark wood.

The tail of the vehicle can be transformed into a luxurious bedroom through the touch of a button, producing a large, 2.03m x 1.13m, double bed. The pop-up roof also stores a second mattress making a family holiday or trip away with friends simple.

Preparing meals is easy thanks to the kitchenette, which has been designed to maximise space inside the camper. It includes a sink with a single lever mixer tap, a dual burner gas stove (which folds down to double as a worktop), a fridge as well as storage space. You can dine in comfort as the front seats rotate 180 degrees and the back bench seat is also moveable. The vehicle’s sliding door homes a folding table completing this dining setting.

Prices for this chic new camper have not been confirmed as yet, but you can be sure this will be a hot item. You never know, it may even encourage some to adopt a more mobile lifestyle similar to us here at CaravanTimes. Currently only available in Germany, orders can be placed from 29 July 2014.
