Car manufacturing giant Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an eye-catching Sprinter caravan concept which will be showcased at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, until Sunday (8 September).

Based on its latest Sprinter van, the campervan appears no bigger than the average transit van. It is an ideal recreational vehicle that is fully suitable for everyday use, measuring less than two metres in height and width.

Two versions of the Sprinter Caravan concept have been built – the 2.15 litre four-cylinder engine version generates 136bhp, which the 3.0-litre six-cylinder variant kicks out an impressed 224 bhp. A V6 petrol engine is also available with an output of 258 hp.

The German manufacturer is known for its luxurious interiors and the new Sprinter campervan continues this trend.

The vehicle boasts LED lighting throughout, hardwearing glossy white walls, grey laminate flooring, leather seats, a flat-screen TV and a sophisticated radio with Bluetooth connectivity including an SD card slot, a USB 2.0 port and an Aux input in the cockpit.

Images from the optionally available reversing camera are shown on the sat nav console, providing guidelines to ensure safe parking.

The motorhome boasts green and fuel-efficient credentials. It is the first van worldwide to comply with future Euro VI emission standards.

In some models, the Blue Efficiency system includes an Eco start/stop function and tyres with reduced rolling resistance which guarantees low fuel consumption and emissions.

Mercedes-Benz will be displaying many other motorhomes in Düsseldorf including the popular Viano range.
