Marquis Leisure, the UK motorhome and caravan dealer, have agreed to sponsor the Portsmouth Ladies Beach Soccer team, who will be representing England in this year’s Euro Winners Cup.
Only the top teams are invited to the tournament, which this year will be taking place in Nazaré, Portugal where the team will be up against their European rivals from Spain, Italy and Germany in the first round.
After finishing 5th overall last year, the team are hoping to improve on this finishing position for 2017 and have been training hard.
The annual competition sees the best teams, both male and female, from across Europe do battle to be crowned continental champions, with this year’s event including preliminary rounds for some additional berths in the main competition, making it the biggest Euro Winners Cup to date.
Head Coach Perry Northeast said: “We are so grateful to Marquis for their continued support and being main sponsor for the Ladies England Beach Soccer team this year. The girls are ready for Portugal and our aim is to improve our ranking from last year’s tournament, it is a real honour to be invited to this competition and without our sponsors support it would not be possible.”
Marquis’s Service Advisor Louise James, has a daughter Katie (pictured right) who plays in the team, as well as for Portsmouth Ladies first team. We wish Katie and the team the best of luck in Portugal!
