Fire crews in Greater Manchester have been involved in putting out a fire that engulfed several caravans in the region.

The blaze took place in land on Bradley Lane at around 2:50 on Monday afternoon (25 March). It took 13 fire engines and 65 firefighters to tackle the blaze which was fanned by high winds.

Various large caravans were set alight and situated near liquid petroleum gas cylinders, according to Greater Manchester Fire Service, with the police adding that the mobile homes were thought to be used for storage.

Paul Duggan, station manager, officer in charge of the incident, said: “It has been challenging because we’ve struggled for water with it being remote and some very strong winds have been fanning the flames.”

The incident follows on from a recent caravan fire in Blackpool, which led police to launch an arson investigation.
