Kilnsea caravan park seeking permission to move

East Yorkshire has one of the fastest eroding coastlines in the world

An East Yorkshire caravan park is looking to relocate due to concerns about the effects of coastal erosion.

Sandy Beaches Caravan Park Ltd, in Kilnsea near Withernsea, has wants to move from its current location to a new site between Easington Road and North Marsh Road, Hull Daily Mail reports.

East Yorkshire has one of the fastest eroding coastlines in the world and, as has been seen in other parts of the region including Whitby, owners are fearing that there could be a time where parts of the site falls into the sea.

The park has already submitted a coping opinion, a precursor to a planning application, and the park’s agent Willis and Co has explained its concern.

A covering letter published in the newspaper read: “The existing caravan site has been established for many years.

“This part of the coastline is eroding and the council has adopted a roll back policy in respect of caravan parks at risk from coastal erosion.”
