Kielder Water & Forest Park, in Northumberland, has been given the honour of being named the best tourism experience in England.

The park claimed the award at the VisitEngland 2013 Awards for Excellence at a ceremony in Old Trafford in Manchester on May 20th.

Kielder Water & Forest Park is home to the Kielder Caravan Park and attracts visitors from all over the world to marvel at northern Europe’s largest man-made lake.

It is also the site of the biggest forest in England and features miles of purpose built-trails with walks and bike ride routes to suit every member of the family.

Elisabeth Rowark, director, Kielder Water & Forest Park Development Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have been recognised as the very best tourism experience in the whole of the country and it was a great honour to represent North East England at these top national awards.”

As the traditional holiday season approaches, the site will be gearing up for another busy few months.
