Icon motorhome offers ultimate glamping experience for only £4,800 a night

The Icon was the first million-dollar motorhome

Camping is great but let’s face it, there are times when eating a basic dinner in a cold caravan after travelling all day to a site can be hard to stomach.

Caravanning is more than a hobby, it’s a lifestyle, and owning a tourer can be expensive at the best of times – considering general maintenance, fuel and storage costs alone.

So obviously you’d be very pleased if we provided you with a cost-effective alternative that not only eradicates seasonal issues like storage, but holiday issues too like general heating and bathroom facilities.

So that’s exactly what we didn’t do.

For a mere $8,000 (£4,800) the one-of-a-kind Icon motorhome can be all yours – but only for one night.

Famous for being the first million-dollar motorhome, this American beast puts the ‘g’ in glamping, and provides its guests with everything from a 42inch plasma TV, to a walk-in-wardrobe, a fully equipped kitchen and an en-suite toilet decorated in gold, obviously.

Sleeping up to four people, in let’s just say, opulence, the motorhome is also decked out entirely in leather and comes with its very own limousine, helicopter and Michelin starred chef (who we assume can be found in one of the many wardrobes).

Yeah, yeah. We know what you’re going to say. All that weight from the golden toilet, the wardrobe and the storable helicopter (it’s actually provided, along with the limousine, by the “24-hour support team” who are “discreetly on hand”) will make the motorhome really slow.

We must admit, we thought it too. But it doesn’t.

Under the bonnet you’ll find a 12-litre engine capable of producing 500bhp and reaching speeds of up to 100mph, which is quite remarkable.

But not perhaps so when considering the motorhome’s previous owner, British Formula 1 champion Jenson Button, who toured with the Icon from 2003 until 2011.

So if you fancy living the life of a racecar driver for a few nights, get in touch with Icon Luxury, and have the time of your life.
