Hymer has made a significant step within the campervan market by launching its first-ever Volkswagen model.

The company has manufactured previous version such as the Rio, the Sydney, the Grand Canyon, the Yellowstone and the Serengeti on the Fiat Ducato base vehicle.

However, the Cape Town is Hymer’s first Volkswagen model and has been created by its new division called HymerCar.

Officials explained that the move is designed to get the manufacturer a foothold within the European market, which has seen sales of new campers and van conversions accounting for 33 per cent of the overall motorhome market.

Motorists in the UK will be able to view the VW Cape Town at the upcoming NCC Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham from 15 to 20 October 2013.

Prices are yet to be confirmed for the Cape Town but it is expected to be in the same price range of the VW California at a cost of around £50,000.
