Harrow caravan and campsite branded a ridiculous idea

The unhappy community will `rally and object to these plans`

A public consultation will take place to decide if Harrow Community Sports can press ahead with plans to change the use of Broadfields Country Club to a caravan and campsite.

The application was validated by Harrow Council, but it could face stiff opposition with one neighbour calling it a “ridiculous idea”, according to the Harrow Observer.

It comes just over a year since the plans were first raised, with locals complaining about the proposed 75-pitch park.

Speaking to the newspaper, Melanie Trime from Headstone Lane said: “It’s incredible that despite all the objections last year Harrow Community Sports have decided to go ahead and request planning approval for this ridiculous idea.”

She added that the local community will “rally and object to these plans”, while Sport England might be invited to get involved as the caravan site will take the place of current playing fields.

According to Harrow Community Sports’ application, existing buildings on the 2.2 hectares of green belt land will be demolished in order to make way for a single-storey facility housing the reception, toilets and showers.
