Glenariff Forest Park is set for a major facelift thanks to “substantial investment” from The Forestry Fund.

The organisation will provide a £4 million investment package over the next two years under its Economy and Jobs Initiative which aims to support the local labour market and give employment opportunities a real shot in the arm.

Forestry minister Michelle O’Neill explained that the main focus of the spending will be to develop caravan and camping facilities at Glenariff. An initial £750,000 has already been set aside for the planning and procurement phase.

Ms O’Neill added: “The development of this high quality caravan and camping facility in the Forest Park will play an important role in catering for and encouraging recreation and tourism within the Antrim coast and Glens area.”

Glenariff Forest Park is a major tourist attraction in Northern Ireland, bringing in visitors from all over the country and further afield.
