Ford has provided motorists with a glimpse of what to expect from its latest SUV, the Ford Kuga, which is due to roll onto the market early in 2013.

The car which was first revealed in March will be priced at around £20,895, the new vehicle will boast extra boot space along with a series of sleek and sophisticated styling improvements.

It’s a signal that Ford is eager to up its game in terms of practicality and design, but the improvements don’t end there, with plenty under the hood to also shout about.

Chief among the upgrades found here is the choice of one of four new engines with the choice of a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine capable of either 148 or 178 bhp or a two-litre TDCI that can produce 138 or 161 bhp – depending on the model purchased.

In each case, a six-speed manual gearbox has been fitted while a Powershift automatic transmission can also be added to the four-wheel drive diesel edition.

With hill start assistant and a sensor-based blind spot checking technology provided, next year cannot come soon enough.
