Charitable efforts raise money for worthy cause
Big-hearted guests and hard-working staff at a caravan park in Cornwall have created a worthy windfall for charity, Help for Heroes.
Hendra Holiday Park in Cornwall embarked upon a series of fundraising efforts in 2015, resulting in presenting the charity with a cheque for £6,310 earlier this month.
Help for Heroes was named as Hendra’s adopted charity for the year at the start of last season, and donations came via a raft of initiatives by the park and its staff.
In addition to raffles and a series of fun events, Hendra has in place a visitor giving scheme which allows guests to add an optional donation when booking their stay.
Together they amounted to the impressive total for the charity which provides help and support for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel and their loved ones.
Hendra Holiday Park director, Janine Hyatt, said everyone was thrilled at the final tally.
“We would like to thank all those who contributed to Hendra’s fundraising effort, especially our holiday guests whose donations make a big difference.
“We’re also grateful to our staff team who always go that extra mile on behalf of the charities which our park supports.
“Even in difficult times, many people are happy to put their hands in their pockets for a good cause, and we’re delighted to be able to provide these much-needed funds for Help for Heroes,” continued Hyatt.
Hendra’s adopted charity for 2016 is to be the NSPCC, and fundraising is already underway as the park prepares for its re-opening in March.
Hendra is less than two miles from the popular Cornish seaside resort of Newquay, and provides a host of family attractions including an award-winning pools complex with slides and geysers.
There is a wide range of accommodation to rent, from cosy glamping pods to super-luxury lodges and caravan holiday homes, plus pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.
Congratulations to the staff and visitors to Hendra for raising money for a great cause.
