A family that was swindled out of £3,000 by a scam for a caravan that never arrived are set to get the break they always wanted.

Kirsty and Jon Hannaby from Hemel Hempstead were one of the latest victims of an online scam which saw them hand over thousands for a second-hand caravan that simply did not exist, The Gazette reports.

It left the couple and their four children devastated but they have received a significant boost from holiday company Park Resorts.

After hearing about the family’s woes the company has decided to give them a free break to any of its 39 UK caravan parks.

A delighted Kirsty told the news provider: “We can now tell the children that we are going to be having a caravan holiday. They will be chuffed to bits with that.”

This is a further warning to people purchasing caravans and The Caravan Club has advised people to do their research before handing over any cash.
