Celebrity interest in caravanning may have a part to play in the rise of young families seeking the great outdoors

It goes without saying that caravanning offers an affordable yet liberating and fulfilling experience to young families looking to go on holiday, an experience that package holidays and hotels are unable to deliver. And now representatives from the Caravan and Camping Club have noticed that there has been a significant surge in interest from young families looking to holiday in caravans.

For young couples and new families, caravanning is seen as an inexpensive step-up from tent camping, and a growing number of families are discovering that caravanning is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with each other, free from the unnecessary distractions and indulgences of everyday life.

Rob Ganley, of the Caravan and Camping Club, told Sky News that the growing enthusiasm for caravanning amongst young families, may partly stem from the influence of certain high-profile celebrities who have spoken about their own passion for the great outdoors. Rob also goes on to mention that Wayne Rooney has recently purchased a caravan in North Wales, where he plans to take his family on holiday this summer. Rob also remarked that Jamie Oliver is well known for his love of caravanning.

Celebrity or not, it is difficult to deny that caravanning is becoming a very popular way of going on holiday. Figures show that there are over 750,000 caravans in use on Britain’s roads, and the National Caravan Council (NCC) has reported an 18 per cent increase in motorhome sales compared to last year, with a healthy nine per cent increase in the sale of caravans.

And it is not surprising; caravanning gives an entirely new experience to families looking to get away from the hectic and exhausting pace of city life. Parents are able to spend quality time with their children, who are able to take part in new activities and learn new things.

Indeed, the vast improvements made in caravan comfort and design through the years has certainly played a large part in making caravanning more accessible and viable for young and old holidayers alike.

Whatever the case, it is excellent to see that younger generations are beginning to take an interest in caravanning, and of course, if you are holidaying in North Wales this summer, and spot Wayne Rooney towing his caravan, don’t forget to say hello.
