Caravanning holidays are the top choice for Brits this summer

The current economic crisis is causing many Brits to seek out affordable travel options closer to home. As the harsh winter comes to an end, many avid explorers are starting to think about how they want to spend the warmer months.

A recent survey by caravan specialist Ropers Leisure asked 1,000 UK adults what they thought would be the cheapest and most convenient way to travel and enjoy the summer this year.

Their results found that caravanning holidays were the most popular option, with 39 per cent agreeing that jumping in a leisure vehicle would be the least expensive while still allowing them to explore the country.

An additional 34 per cent said that outdoor camping would be their holiday of choice, which is no surprise considering the number of affordable places to pitch up across the country.

Over the last ten years, Airbnb has become another favoured alternative to traditional stays in hotels due to its more affordable pricing. However, with just 27 per cent of respondents saying it would be their travel method of choice, it’s clear that Brits are seeking even cheaper ways to enjoy the summer.

James Roper at Ropers Leisure commented: “A caravan is an excellent way to travel on a budget. Travelling with your own caravan or simply spending a nice break away inside a caravan is an affordable way to save money on hotel fees and restaurant costs.

They’re ideal for people who want to stay in one place for a while and explore the area before moving on. Travelling by caravan also allows you to explore at your own pace.”

Mr Roper also added that caravans help people to feel at home on the road, as they have all the facilities you’d expect from a hotel or other type of accommodation, meaning you can travel comfortably.
