The UK has been going through various economic hardships in the past few years which has led many people to tighten their purse strings.
One sector where the recession has actually been beneficial is the caravan and camping industry. Figures from the National Caravan Council (NCC) revealed that there has been a 14 per cent uptake in people choosing to go on these types of holidays.
With this in mind, a new initiative by SkillsActive and Caravan Industry Training (CITO) has been designed to help young people across the country gain the right qualifications within the tourism industry to get them into employment within the caravan and camping business.
The course is similar to a two-year full-time honours degree and is aimed at people wanting to become managers within the tourism sector.
Jenny Pritchard, head of CITO, said: “This course has received huge praise from current and graduate students. The Foundation Degree in Tourism Park Management is helping professionalise this exciting industry, providing adequate skills and training to a sector which contributes so much to the UK economy.”
