Developments to caravan sites found to fuel local economic growth
The expansion of caravan sites on the Lincolnshire coast have been found to be boosting wider tourism trade by placing huge investment into the local economy.
East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) has seen significant investments made at caravan sites with sites right across the coast planning to continue to meet demand.
In Trusthorpe, an environmental impact report has been submitted which could lead to a new touring caravan site of 181 pitches, a toilet/shower block and reception building created off North Road.
Spokesperson for ELDC, Steve Kirk, said of the impact on the economy, “As a council we encourage investment in the district particularly when it creates jobs and new opportunities for local people. Tourism is the district’s principal economy and businesses in that sector investing shows that the industry is strong.
“However, it is important that any proposed development and growth is proportionate and suitable for the location at which it is proposed,” he explained.
Golden Palm Resort is currently in the middle of expanding and owner Chris Cobb believes it is the investments made by coastal businesses that is making holidaymakers head for the Lincolnshire coast.
“We keep an eye on social media and the amount of people impressed with different developments shows caravan park owners are definitely doing something right.” Cobb finished.
Hopefully more and more parts of the UK will continue to follow suit.
