Caravan parts maker Whale wins hattrick of Sunday Times awards

Whale wins their third consecutive Sunday Times award

by Chris Jefferies

The Sunday Times has named caravan parts supplier Whale in its ‘Top 100 best small companies to work for’ list once again for 2012, making it three wins in a row for the Northern Irish company.

Bailey Orion and Elddis Xplore owners will be familiar with the name, as Whale provides the award-winning under-floor heaters for these popular tourers.

But as well as making lightweight and compact caravanning products, it seems that Whale also treats its employees rather well indeed.
The Sunday Times Top 100 list is compiled after in-depth study of each company, including anonymous employee questionnaires to find out what the workers really think of their bosses.

Whale’s ranking of 77th out of more than 1,000 entrants is made all the more impressive by the fact that they are the only company from Northern Ireland and the only manufacturer to feature in the national newspaper’s list.

Patrick Hurst, Managing Director of Whale, said: “To be listed again in 2012 is just fantastic for all the team at Whale. They have all worked hard together to continually maintain the quality and introduce innovative, market leading products.”

This win is just the latest in a long line of accolades for Whale. Back in 2011, the company’s underfloor caravan heater was voted as the best innovation of the year in the annual CaravanTimes Readers’ Poll.
