Caravan criminals caught in less than a day

The police acted quickly to aprehend the caravan thieves

Two men who had hoped to generate some cash through the theft of a caravan in Bristol have found their plans curtailed after police captured them just hours after they committed the crime.

The pair were reported to have taken the much-loved tourer from the driveway of the owner’s home in Fishponds early on Tuesday (29 January) morning.

However any plans that may have had for the vehicle were soon curtailed after police were tipped off about the whereabouts of the caravan in question.

A tourer matching the description of the one that was stolen was spotted at a set of traffic lights in the local area, with police rushing to the scene to apprehend the suspects.

The vehicle was stopped in neighbouring Winterbourne, with two men subsequently arrested for the theft before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

While this caravan tale had a happy ending, Avon and Somerset Constabulary has urged tourer owners to take the appropriate security measures to ensure their vehicles remain protected against similar incidences.
