A great, great grandfather has turned 104. Keen camper van enthusiast Bill Marsden is celebrating a very special birthday after spending decades travelling Europe in his beloved mobile home.
A Surrey great, great grandfather is celebrating his 104th birthday.
Bill Marsden, from Abbeyfield House, Reigate, was born in Manchester in 1910 and has lived through two world wars, serving as an Army truck driver in North Africa and Italy in World War II, Surrey Mirror reports.
He puts his longevity down to his busy lifestyle and revealed that he is a keen camper van enthusiast.
After his wife, Margaret, passed away when he was 70, Mr Marsden decided to embark on an epic road trip in his camper van.
He travelled across Europe living out of his mobile home which took him pretty much anywhere he decided to.
Mr Marsden told the news provider: “There were some lovely spots, they were some exciting times living by yourself in a small caravan. I would toss a penny to decide which way I would go.”
Like Mr Marsden, any UK resident who lives past the age of 100 receives a special commendation from the Queen.
