CAMC Want You To Experience Freedom

Get riding with The Club

By William Coleman

Getting out and exploring is exactly what draws us all to the world of touring holidays. With so much out there to find the Caravan and Motorhome wants everyone to get outside and “Experience Freedom” with their new 2018 Adventure Outside campaign.

The Club are encouraging the public to become more active and get on their bikes following their first ever CycleFest vent in 2016. The Club are now offering a trio of CycleFest events in England, Scotland and Wales in 2018.

The Club’s Experience Freedom brand will be running the three CycleFest events and are all accredited by British Cycling and supported by Raleigh a Maxxis. The aim of the events are to bring people from all walks of life to enjoy cycling. There will be two challenges per CycleFest, the challenges come in the form of different routes. You can choose from a relaxed family ride and a cycling village with lots to see and do.

The Scottish Wanderer event will be held in the border town of Kelso on 6 May, the National Wanderer will take place at Sledmere House in Yorkshire on 27 May in Yorkshire, to coincide with the Club’s fun-packed National event and the Welsh Wanderer will run in the market town of Monmouth on 26 August.

All CycleFest participants receive free entry to the adjoining National event, which will offer fun and games for all ages. Daytime activities include baking, crafting, wine making, team sports and plenty of adventurous pursuits such as hover archery, zip wires and even ninja assault courses!* Plus, all entrants will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Belle France family-of-four cycling holiday in the Loire Valley. Personally I find the idea of the ninja assault course very appealing, it may help shift some of the Christmas timber.

The Caravan and Motorhome Club launched its “Adventure Outside” campaign in October 2017 in order to inspire more people to be active in the great outdoors and its CycleFest events form a key part of it. The Club is also proud to offer its members – 43 percent of whom are keen cyclists – 35 special cycling routes that it developed with the cycling and walking charity Sustrans. Many of the routes can be accessed from favourite Club sites including Cheddar, Coed-Y-Llwyn, Minnows, Pembrey Country Park, Sandringham and Tredeger House Country Park.
Harvey Alexander, director of marketing, the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “We are always encouraging our members of all ages to get out in the great outdoors and have fun, active days-out and holidays, and CycleFest is a great example of this. More and more of our members are getting into cycling and we’re proud to be able to offer them some great events and routes that enable them to explore the UK’s beautiful countryside and have some exciting adventures.”
This just shows the dedication that The Club have towards their members and the general public. With so many advantages of staying home for your holidays The Club are simply adding to appeal of staycations.
Entry to CycleFest is free for Caravan and Motorhome Club members attending the National. Attendees can enter the events via British Cycling or on the day and entry costs from £20.00.
