The upcoming August bank holiday will give many people across the country a brief respite from the stresses and strains of work.

New research from VisitEngland’s Bank Holiday Trip Tracker has found that 4.5 million Brits will take advantage of the extended weekend by enjoying a short break somewhere in the country.

The organisation found that 3.5 million people will be holidaying in England on a city break or jumping in the caravan and heading to one of the many campsites the country has to offer.

However, there is a bit of trepidation when it comes to making that final decision with 38 per cent of people waiting to check their financial situation before heading away while 30 per cent are delaying their break due to the weather.

Louise Stewart, VisitEngland’s director of strategy and development, said: “With warm weather set to continue this weekend, it will certainly provide a secondary boost for many operators at the end of the school holidays, with the expectation being to see another spike in last-minute bookings for the bank holiday.”
