Caravan park wins in 2014-2015 Conservation Award Scheme
The greenest places to pitch up throughout the UK are continuing to be revealed, as the David Bellamy Conservation Awards continue in full swing, with Kingfisher Caravan Park in Skegness emerging as the latest park in the UK to win a David Bellamy Conservation Award and bagging the top Gold Award for 2014-2015.
Kingfisher Caravan Park, which is run by East Lindsey District Council, won the award based on the park’s energy conservation, approach to recycling and water conservation, and the fact that it blends well with its surroundings. Suggestions for further improvement were also made, such as planting bushes around the perimeter fence and putting up information boards about wildlife.
David Bellamy commended the caravan park’s efforts, telling the Skegness Standard: “I hope that you find the award useful as a way of letting everyone know that you are going the extra mile to help Britain’s wildlife.” He added: “I also hope that it will give your team a real pat on the back and encourage them to do even more for the environment in the future.”
CaravanTimes recently reported that Weir Caravan Park at Stamford Bridge, North Yorkshire, took home one of the sought after awards, for the park’s continued efforts to support the local community and protect wildlife.
