The rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, with the task of spending long days travelling from venue to venue across the globe often being overlooked for all the glitz and glamour that comes with the territory – and Daughters of Davis know this only too well.
Having spent the past 12 months travelling thousands of miles across the UK and Europe, performing to thousands of people, as well as supporting well-known artists in the music industry, it comes as no surprise that the performing folk duo, Fern and Adrianne Davis, were more than excited when Elddis surprised them with a gift that would help make their travel much more satisfying – their very own motorhome.

The two sisters were initially loaned the use of a brand new ELddis Accordo 125 motorhome from the caravan and motorhome manufacturer to support them on their tour, and it wasn’t long before the girls formed struck up such a strong bond with the motorhome they even ended up naming it Otis.

The Accordo 125 became the official third member of the team, getting recognition from their ever increasing followers on Twitter and Facebook. Even musicians Bryan Adams, The EELS and Rebecca Ferguson began what became their home from home.

Earlier this year, however, the bubble began to burst – the loan of Otis was coming closer to an end as their tour came closer to finishing. It was around that same time that Elddis saw how bright the duo’s future was and rallied for a long-term answer. With some help from Peugeot and Whale, Otis became a permanent part of the Daughters of Davis’ entourage and, at the end of the girl’s performance at Elddis’ 50 Anniversary celebration party, in what was a complete surprise for the girls, the keys to Otis were handed over to them by Managing Director of Elddis, Rob Quine – permanently.

Of the affectionate bond, Fiona and Adrienne formed with Otis the Accordo, they said: “The van has been a home from home. It’s given us warmth when we were cold; shelter when we were tired and showers when we only previously had rivers! It’s given us the confidence to keep touring. Pulling up next to The EELS tour van was a moment of pride rather than one of embarrassment, which it surely would have been getting out of our old rust bucket!”

It doesn’t just stop there for Daughters of Davis though, and CaravanTimes has a distinct feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from the duo over the next coming months, as they explained: “The faith you’ve shown in us has helped others to invest in our music too which has snowballed to where we are at now. We’ll be supporting X Factor winner Sam Bailey on her UK Tour in February and we have also been invited for a guest slot on BBC Radio 2 in January, too!”
