Devon is in the midst of a caravan-based crime wave, following a string of break-ins aboard tourers parked in the cosy county of Devon.
Police are on the hunt for a man, believed to be acting alone, who has taken £2,000 worth of items including an iPad, laptop, MP3 player and even some clothes.
Worse still, in two of these cases the thief is believed to have adopted a Goldilocks-style approach to his crime – breaking into two caravans and proceeding to eat, drink and sleep there before making his escape in the morning.
In each instance, the caravans came from privately-owned caravan parks. The incidents have also only been noticed after the tourer-owners in question have taken their vehicles for a much needed half-term break.
Caravans in Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Modbury, Bolberry and Ugborough have been affected, with one police spokesperson admitting there could be more to come.
“We could have more reports as people continue to arrive to find their caravan has been broken into,” he told the news provider.
If caught, the man in question could face time behind bars with one Doncaster-based caravan thief receiving a two year sentance earlier this month.
