The Swift Group and their brands are household names amongst those seeking to get away from it all.
The firm produces caravans, motorhomes and static holiday homes, placing it firmly at the forefront of the leisure vehicle industry. Swift is known for making lightweight and keenly priced vehicles that don't scrimp on specification or comfort.
History
Swift claims to be the largest caravan manufacturer in the UK and few would challenge this assertion. Founded in 1965 the brand has quickly grown from humble origins to include popular brands such as Abbey, Sprite, Sterling and Bessacarr. Expansion into the sectors of static caravans and motorhomes has only strengthened the company and today it is recognised as one of the world's biggest-selling manufacturers of leisure homes of all types.
Popular ranges
The most popular range on sale today is the Swift Charisma (pictured) with nine versatile layouts. A transverse rear washroom can be found on the 550 fixed bed model, while a large rear wrap around dinette in the 545 takes the place of the fixed bed. Security is strong thanks to robust entrance locks while shock absorbers and AL-KO running gear complete the structural setup. Comforts include multiple TV points and showers with plush lining, making the Charisma a small yet highly luxurious package. The Charisma was replaced in July 2011 by the Swift Challenger Sport.
The five model Swift Conqueror lineup offers the next step in touring luxury, and sits at the top end of Swift's touring caravan portfolio. Updates for the 2011 season incorporated a striking new design and luxury interiors. Standout features include a panoramic full-length sunroof and integrated roof lockers at either side on the interior.
The Swift Challenger (pictured) is the flagship series in the Swift range with its seven model line up. The Challenger 570 remains the most popular layout with its fixed rear bed and large washroom. Construction methods have improved considerably with one piece moulded panels and side walls. Inside the quality continues with a granite-look sink and all new kitchen appliances. The Swift Group continues its commitment to energy saving measures using LED lighting inside the caravan, allowing for longer lasting battery life.
Also in the Swift portfolio is the diminutive and historical Sprite (pictured). Invented by Sam Alper shortly after the end of the second World War, Sprite is the oldest brand owned by the Swift group. An excellent entry level option, the seven model line-up consists of the Finesse 2, Alpine 2, Alpine 4, Musketeer TD Musketeer EB, Major 6, and the twin axle Quattro FB. The Sprite Owners Caravan Club has been running since 1959 and is one of the longest running owners clubs around.
