The Sprite Lite range was launched at the NCC Motorhome and Caravan Show 2011

Friday, 21, Oct 2011 03:45

Launched at the NCC Motorhome & Caravan Show 2011, the Sprite Lite range is the new entry-level offering from Swift Caravans. Featuring a basic specification and a focussed range of just three layouts, this collection of value tourers is among the lightest and most affordable full-sized caravans on sale in the UK.

The exterior styling continues the traditional look seen in the 2010 Sprite Caravans range, with a sloping front roof and plain white sides. To distinguish the new range, Swift has come up with a light blue graphic for this all-new range. The robust construction methods, including GRP front panel and Al-Ko galvanised steel chassis, have passed European Whole Vehicle Type Approval and come with a 10-year bodyshell integrity warranty for added peace of mind.

Bare necessities

In the interiors, Swift have gone about stripping out all but the essentials, leaving a basic caravan that you can make your own. Unlike most UK touring caravans, the Sprite Lite range comes with no shower, oven or microwave (although the latter can be fitted as a cost extra). The hob features a two-burner stove and a built-in grill, meaning you can still rustle up a warming meal, while the 112-litre fridge means there's plenty of spare for your perishables. Furthermore, the removal of the shower makes for plenty of space in all the bathrooms.

There are Beech slat seat and bed bases with sprung hinged tops for extra comfort and easy access, as well as Cassette flyscreens and blinds on all windows. Internal headroom measures up at a generous 6'5" and central heating is provided by a Truma 3kW gas space heater with auto ignition. Finally, the Dual fuel Truma Ultrastore water heater means you can get plenty of warm water in no time.

Three's company

Buyers interested in the Sprite Lite range can choose from a range of three layouts, offering two, four and five-berth configurations. The Sprite Lite 2 is based on the original Sprite Alpine 2 layout, with a traditional convertible double bed in the front living area, a side kitchenette and a rear bathroom. Small families can opt for the Sprite Lite 4, which features a fixed double bed in the rear offside of the caravan, as well as a compact washroom on the rear nearside.

Finally, the largest caravan in the range is the Sprite Lite 5. As the name would suggest, it includes enough space for a family of five to enjoy a touring holiday. In this model, the washroom is moved to the offside and the nearside area is occupied by a convertible double dinette with an overhead bunk, suitable for a small child. Furthermore, this family area includes a sliding partition for added privacy.

Prices and weights in the Sprite Lite range are as follows:

Model MTPLM Weight
Sprite Lite 2 1,036kg £9,910
Sprite Lite 4 1,097kg £10,455
Sprite Lite 5 1,137kg £10,865
