Specialising in folding caravans, Gobur focus on producing space saving tourers that are convenient to store without compromising on comfort.

The Norfolk based company first began experimenting with folding caravans in the early 1970's and their leading product is the Carousel range.

Gobur do not stock their vehicles at caravan dealers - instead you can visit their retail division in Norfolk which now offers the largest display of new and pre-owned folding caravans in the UK. Built to EN1645, all Carousels are approved by the National Caravan Council.

How do they work?

Today the Gobur "Carousel" is unlike most folding caravans, in that it forgoes canvas for a folding hard top. The one-piece moulded fibreglass roof, rigid insulated walls and vinyl ceiling ensure that those used to regular caravans will find the transition easier.

The roof unclips from the main body of the trailer and is elevated by the front and rear walls aided by gas assisted struts, the side panels are raised and fitted to complete the outer shell. Tightly sealed joints between walls and roof offer good levels of insulation for winter touring

The towing height of these folding trailers is on just below the level of the average towcar, minimising wind resistance and maximising visibility out on the road. When it comes to storage, the compact nature of the folding caravan gives the owner greater flexibility when parking, and once packed down they are less visible to prying eyes.

Three ranges

Gobur caravans come in three ranges; slimline, Carousel and Clubman.

Slimline models are narrow handbuilt folding caravans, lightweight and good for storage. At a width of 1.72m, they are about as wide as the average car.

The lightweight Carousel range is built to a standard width of 2.08m, and comes in a range of layouts. And at the top end of the portfolio is the Clubman and Clubman L models which Gobur claim offer the ultimate in folding caravan luxury.

All three ranges have the option of two single beds, or a large comfortable double. A toilet compartment and washroom come fitted as standard.
