Organisers at the National Eisteddfod at Bala in Gwynedd have been warned of heavy rain and poor conditions due to severe rainfall in the past few weeks.
Persistent rain has left caravan and camping sites extremely wet. Organisers have countered this by limiting the use of cars on the caravan site to minimise issues.
The chief executive of eisteddfod Elfed Roberts was unsurprised however by the problems, and spoke to BBC Cymru to clear things up.
"We are familiar of course with this kind of situation, not only at the eisteddfod, but in Wales, and what we want to do is to appeal to people to still come" he urged.
Sensible advice offered was to wear "suitable shoes for walking around" such as "a coat, umbrella, and hat".
Mr. Roberts also reported that caravanners would find the campsites and caravan parks in fit condition to use when arriving.
"Because no vehicles have been on them they are OK, and we have put tracks down to help the caravans get in."
"If people need to use their car they have to use the parking area on the caravan site," he added, reinforcing a new rule he brought in last year.
The rule stopped cars moving on and off the caravan field, which is liable to churn up the ground underfoot.
